I attended my first election rally today! and ouch...my calf hurts like after wearing high heels.. o.O *massage massage* ahem..
You know Potong Pasir SMC? One of the most hotly contested constituency alongside hougong, Potong Pasir is being contested by the leader of the opposition, a 'no stamina, day-dreaming, lao a-bei' and a baby face cutie pie, Chiam See Tong and Sitoh Yih Pin respectively. hehe..yah..they're both male btw. and they're both over 40.
They held the rally at the open area outside Potong Pasir MRT. I lived nearby so i went to see. It took me a while to get there though..o.o I should bring up the issue of bad bus routing around potong pasir and see who solves it first.. So I had to walk abt 5mins to get to the place.. Followed by hours of standing as we listened to the PAP candidate and members to air their views on the opposition and the coming election.
So the opposition..Chiam..was put as unrealistic, lacking in stamina, a man full of empty promises. Rather cruel eh, to attack a 71 old uncle this way eh? hem..so the baby face eh u ask. He was put in a much better light. Firstly, the tamil, malay, and chinese grassroots leaders all gave him a good testimonial, even his childhood gal fren came to his support. o.O and of course, his 'kao shang', Mr.Goh Chok Tong, also gave him his full support and called on the people to give Sitoh his chance. Sitoh for Potong Pasir they say. Sitoh, the kind-hearted, determined, caring boy who is full of drive and concrete ideas will revitalize Potong Pasir! Just to give you a peek at what could happen is that a new Kallang 'Coast Park' which is going to take advantage of the kallang river that flows through potong pasir to create a similar East Cost Park right there in Potong Pasir. The kids that were standing beside me practically screamed their heads off once they heard that proposal...
So the whole event ended at 10+pm.. A worthwhile event I would say. It was definitely better than whatever report you can get from the news. It was like watching a soccer match at the stadium and watching a match in front of the tv. You'll get tired legs..you'll get squeezed between sweaty armpits..but the atmosphere and the wholesome view you get from being at the rally in person is well worth it.
